Breaking Through The Non-traditional Market, Indonesia Sold CN-235 Aircraft to Nepal

Indonesia managed to break through the non-traditional market in South Asia, one of them by selling CN-235-220 aircraft made by PT. Indonesian aerospace to Nepal.

CN235-220 aircraft made by PT. The Indonesian Aerospace (PTDI) was dispatched from Bandung to Kathmandu, Nepal, as stated in a written statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received in Jakarta on Thursday.

The US $ 30.5 million aircraft, which will be used as a multipurpose transport, is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu on November 2, 2019. The delivery of the aircraft is the result of a 2017 contract signing in 2017 in Kathmandu.

"The use of Indonesian production aircraft by the Nepalese Army has further strengthened world confidence in the work of the nation's children," said PTDI President Director Elfien Goentoro at the official release event in Bandung, Wednesday (10/30).

"Nepal is the 23rd country in the world and the second in South Asia to use CN235 after Pakistan," Elfien said.

Nepal's trust in the aircraft made by PTDI became stronger after the Nepalese AD team visited Bandung to inspect the CN-235 firsthand last September.

The Nepalese government is also interested in ordering a second plane from PTDI. Besides Nepal, PTDI is producing a number of aircraft for several countries, including Senegal and Thailand.

The aircraft purchase uses a financing system through a program from the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI), which is a national interest account which is the policy of the Government of Indonesia in the context of strengthening export financing.

The sale of CN-235 aircraft is part of a joint effort to increase the promotion of national strategic industries to compete in international markets according to the direction of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian representatives continue to encourage promotion and oversee the contract negotiation process of a number of leading SOEs so that economic diplomacy provides direct benefits for the country.

In addition to PTDI, a number of other SOEs are also conducting a number of project discussions with countries in the Asia Pacific and Africa region, including PT. Waskita Karya, PT. INKA, PT. Pindad, PT. LEN, Perum Peruri, PT Pelindo II and PT. GMF Aero Asia.
